About Blacks Brewery & Distillery

Based in Kinsale, Co. Cork, Blacks Brewery & Distillery is Ireland’s first co-located microbrewery and distillery. In 2018 they became the country’s pioneer in importing sugar molasses, fermenting it, and distilling it into a true Irish rum – a testament to their flavour-maverick approach and dedication to quality.

Rum Up: Ireland’s First Irish Rum

Rum Up marks Blacks’ entry into the rum category, showcasing tropical vibrancy and signature Irish craftsmanship. Distilled in copper stills, the liquid is matured in oak casks before being expertly blended with natural botanicals.

Rum Up Pineapple & Coconut

Nose: Bursts of fresh pineapple leap forward, followed by creamy, toasted coconut and a whisper of vanilla.

First Flight commemorates Blacks’ inaugural whiskey release – the very first spirits distilled in Kinsale. Bottled at full cask strength (59% ABV) and aged four years, these limited-edition whiskeys encapsulate the pioneering spirit of the distillery.

The Two Expressions

First Flight Single Malt (Port Cask) – Aged four years in rich port casks for plush dark-fruit notes, gentle spice and a velvet finish.
First Flight Pot Still (Oloroso Sherry Cask) – Four-year maturation in oloroso sherry casks yields dried fruit, roasted nuts and chocolate undertones.
