The Brexiteer: A Unique Whisky for a Historic Moment
As the UK departs from the EU, Whisky Center proudly presents The Brexiteer, a 1991 Burnside Barrel, which yielded 182.3 bottles after aging for 28 years in Scotland.
This “Brexiteer” is a “teaspooned” whisky, meaning it is slightly blended Scotch. This bottling marks our inaugural “Whisky Center” release and commemorates the significant events of Brexit in 2019, marking the UK’s departure from the EU.
Burnside, one of Scotland’s “lost distilleries,” was located near Dufftown.
The journey of The Brexiteer is uncertain, but what remains certain is the Scottish pride in their exceptional spirit. Securing the empty barrel for transportation to the mainland was a challenge. With the help of our contact in London, we managed to obtain the barrel. In the spirit of recycling, cask #7389 has been refilled with continental spirit and is now resting in a cave in southern Germany, ensuring that this narrative continues with Continental Whisky.

As the UK leaves the EU, The Brexiteer whisky is released by Whisky Center. This 1991 Burnside Barrel produced 182.3 bottles. Aged for 28 years in Scotland, this whisky is truly special.
‘The Brexiteer’ 28 YO, a “teaspooned” Scotch, is lightly blended. This bottling marks Whisky Center’s first release. It commemorates the significant Brexit events of 2019, marking the UK’s EU departure.
Burnside, one of Scotland’s “lost distilleries,” was near Dufftown. This distillery’s legacy continues through The Brexiteer, showcasing Scotland’s whisky craftsmanship and pride.
The journey of The Brexiteer remains uncertain. Scottish pride in their exceptional spirit is clear. Transporting the empty barrel to the mainland proved challenging. With help from our London contact, the barrel was secured.
In a recycling spirit, cask #7389 was refilled with continental spirit. It now rests in a southern German cave, ensuring The Brexiteer’s story continues with Continental Whisky.
