Grace O’Malley Granuaile Irish Gin
Chocolate Gin Cocktail
Grace O’Malley Granuaile Irish Gin is a meticulously crafted spirit inspired by the fearless 16th-century Irish pirate queen, Granuaile. Distilled on Ireland’s rugged west coast, it blends 14 native botanicals—heather, wild thyme, red clover, blackthorn, bilberry, sea fennel and more—in traditional copper pot stills. The result is a fresh, floral gin with gentle sweetness and a crisp maritime edge.
Ingredients
- 50 ml Grace O’Malley Granuaile Irish Gin
- 1 teaspoon dark chocolate liqueur (non-creamy, dairy-free; e.g., Mozart Dark Chocolate or Giffard)
- 4 dashes chocolate bitters (e.g., The Bitter Truth)
- 20 ml lime cordial (e.g., Rose’s Lime Juice)
- Ice cubes
Glassware
Use a chilled coupe glass to highlight the cocktail’s aromas and silky texture.
Method
- Fill a mixing glass with plenty of ice cubes.
- Add gin, chocolate liqueur, chocolate bitters and lime cordial.
- Stir gently for 20–30 seconds, chilling and diluting just enough to meld flavours.
- Strain into the pre-chilled coupe glass.
Garnish & Serve
Optionally, express a thin twist of lime peel over the glass to release its oils, then float it on the surface. Serve immediately and enjoy the balance of maritime florals, rich chocolate and bright citrus.
