Dingle Gin Tasting Notes by Whisky Center
- Nose: Clean and classic, the nose presents abundant bright juniper, warm and piney. Freshly cut angelica stems add a clean floral brightness. It’s very classic, primarily focused on these two notes. Additionally, there are mint-laden undertones, providing a crisp herbal complexity that completes the bouquet. It’s one of my favorite aromas of 2016 thus far.
- Palate: The palate opens with juniper, offering a crisp floral mid-note with an almost fruity, jammy quality. There are hints of blackberry jam, a touch of marmalade and chamomile, followed abruptly by a robust minty note that brings a bright freshness and a mentholated coolness throughout the mouth. Flavor-wise, Dingle Gin straddles between eucalyptus and mint, leading up to a peppery crispness pre-finish: coriander, cubeb pepper, and a herbal greenness.
- Finish: The finish is of medium length, dominated by mint and herbal notes. There’s a gentle warmth on the back palate. The spirit is crisp, not oily or overly thick, yet it delivers a substantial flavor profile. Overall, I find it quite enjoyable.
