Wolfburn 200th Anniversary Edition: Following the Napoleonic Wars, William Smith was discharged from the army on half-pay. Shortly thereafter, in 1821, he utilized his military pay and other investment proceeds to establish the Wolfburn Distillery.

The original distillery ranked among the largest in the Highlands, with its whisky reaching discerning customers everywhere. As the current guardians of Smith’s legacy, the modern distillery continues to craft whisky similarly to the original method: our master craftsmen handpick the finest malt, which undergoes fermentation and distillation manually, without mechanical aid. The casks are selected with care, and the spirit matures slowly in our specially designed warehouses.

Marking Wolfburn’s bicentennial, select premium casks have been chosen: first-fill Oloroso sherry hogsheads, set aside six years prior, enhanced by whisky from our inaugural cask, filled in January 2013. The label and box design pay homage to our Caithness roots, featuring 1821 sequentially numbered bottles. The enclosed whisky is an exceptional Highland single malt, a true rarity. Here’s to another two centuries!
