Belgian Owl
20 Years of Belgian Owl
History since 2004
On November 29, 2004, the first barrel was filled. Driven by the ambition to create a truly local product, Belgian Owl embarked on an epic mission 20 years ago to produce a whisky deeply connected to the Haspengouw region. This dedication has led to numerous awards and recognitions, including the title of Best European Single Cask (2011) with a score of 95% in Jim Murray’s Whisky Bible.
Distillation
To stay as close as possible to old traditions, Belgian Owl uses two authentic Scottish stills, transferred from the former Caperdonich distillery in Speyside, Scotland. This process creates a unique, pure, smooth, and balanced whisky of the highest quality in the beautiful Hesbaye region.
Artisanal Single Malt
The production of the Single Malt is entirely artisanal, with barley grown with great care. All fields are surrounded by nature, and the ecosystem is respected with the help of various plants and insects. In addition to the soil, the groundwater, drawn from a 38-meter-deep well, is of exceptional quality and protected by the Walloon government and the European Union. Thanks to the quality of the barley, the water, the finesse of the distillate, and the quality of the wood, Belgian Owl’s signature whisky serves as a beautiful showcase for the Haspengouw region.
